Orders Frequently Asked Questions

What Payment method do you use ? and Why ?
The only method of payment that Mironics currently accepts is Paypal.
Security and service guarantee on the Internet are a must today. Paypal provides you with all the facilities that you need to pay a company on the Internet. You can rest assured that your money is safe when you use Paypal and that your goods WILL reach you. Paypal allows you to attach your bank account or pay with a credit card but Paypal will NEVER display this information to Mironics.

What happened to my order ?

After you pay using Paypal, you will get an e-mail from Paypal confirming the payment.
Once you have completed all THREE steps of the order process, Mironics will wait for the funds to be transferred from Paypal. After we have received the payment your order will be dispatched in the earliest batch. You can also check your order using the Mironics' Order Status checker.

How do I know I have paid Mironics ?
After you finish the order process and pay using Paypal, you will get an e-mail from Paypal confirming this payment.
The best way to may sure you have paid Mironics via Paypal is to log-on to your Paypal account and check for a transaction between you and Mironics. If you see one there rest assured that Mironics has got your order and payment.
Your product will be shipped to you soon. When your product is shipped to you Mironics will send you an e-mail with the shipping information.

When will my Order ship out ?
Your order normally ships out along with the earliest batch but definitely within a week of Mironics receiving the payment from Paypal.
When your product is shipped to you Mironics will send you an e-mail with the shipping information.

What shipping address is used ?
We normally try to use your Paypal supplied shipping address. This is because Paypal's address verification is very thorough. We can ship to an alternate address provided that shipping address is verified by Paypal too or that your main address is Paypal verified.

What shipping method is used ?
Mironics decides the best shipping method to the location that you provide. We normally try and use the fastest shipping method. From our experience we have seen that the fastest and cheapest option is Priority Mail (U.S.) and Global Priority Mail (International) and we tend to prefer these shipping methods. This however may change over time. Whatever the shipping method Mironics always insures all packages for assured delivery.

Hardware Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the MMDCL-1 fit ?
The MMDCL-1 connects to the printer parallel port on the back of your computer and to the remote control jack of your Sony Minidisc recorder.

How do I connect my printer along with the MMDCL-1 ?
Mironics suggests two options. Most users, doing titling in batches, will find that simply exchanging the printer cable and the MMDCL-1 will be adequate. If you find yourself using the MMDCL-1 heavily, the purchase of a printer parallel port switch is recommended. These are readily available at computer or office supply stores. Y cables are not suitable and could lead to damage.

Can I use my headphones while the Minidisc Suite is plugged into my Minidisc Recorder ?
Yes. Mironics has designed a unique plug that allows a pair of standard headphones to plugged directly into the Minidisc recorder while the Minidisc Suite is connected.

What is supplied with the Minidisc Suite ?
When you purchase the Minidisc Suite you will receive the MMDCL-1 that connects the computer to the Minidisc recorder and a subscription to our software downloads and updates.

Do I need to open my computer to make any connections ?
No. The Minidisc recorder connects to the external parallel port of a standard IBM compatible computer.

Does the Minidisc Suite work on a Macintosh ?
No. Since the Macintosh does not support a parallel port the Minidisc Suite cannot be used with a Macintosh. Mironics is NOT planning to release a Macintosh version of the Minidisc Suite.

Will there ever be a USB version of this device ?
No. Mironics has stopped all work on developing a USB version of the MMDCL-1.

The Minidisc Suite™ controls your Minidisc recorder. The MMDCL-1 does not send the audio part of the data to your deck. The audio signals sent to your deck are either Analog or Digital depending upon your usual method of recording from computer to Minidisc recorder. The music is transferred using either your soundcard or any USB device. The cable used to transfer the audio information between your computer and the Minidisc recorder is NOT supplied.

How do I connect my Minidisc recorder, my computer and the MMDCL-1 for uploading ?
Connect the MMDCL-1 to your recorder via the remote control jack. This connection is made between the Line-Out of your Minidisc recorder and the Line-In of your computer's soundcard. All uploads are done in real time only.

Mironics charges a nominal fee of US$ 5/- to transfer a user license. This fee is the processing charges for changing the owner's and order details on the Mironics database.
Our e-mail support will be extended to the new user, but note that warranty coverage or guarantees of compatibility cover the original purchaser and do not transfer. No product support will be provided if the transfer charges are not paid.
This transfer fee is not applicable to gifts. If you have received this product as a gift then you do not need to pay the transfer fee. However in order for you to be eligible for this waiver you should be the first person who should have downloaded the software.

Why is the recording support partial for the MZ-G750 ?

The MMDCL-1 can only support functions that are present on the original remote control. Sony has removed the RECORD function from the remote of the MZ-G750. However all recording functions can still be performed if the user manually puts the Minidisc recorder into record (when prompted) and then let the Minidisc Suite™ handle things from there.

What is different in the titling support for some of the newer Minidisc portable recorders ?

Sony has changed the way the remote control interfaces with the Minidisc portable recorder in some of the newer models. Mironics has created a special MMDCL-1 in order to support these models. Although this alteration allows full titling support, the display of the Minidisc portable recorder does not show the titling while in progress. The display shows the old title (if there was one) scrolling on the last line and when titling is complete the new title is displayed on the top line. During a Title All session, the user gets a glimpse of the title which was just entered for the previous song before Minidisc Suite™ moves to the next track and begins titling it.

What version of Winamp is currently supported ? Why ?

The Mironics Minidisc Suite™ currently only works with Winamp 2. Nullsoft has not yet formalized the interface for Winamp 3. When there is better support for Winamp 3, Mironics will update the Minidisc Suite™ to support the latest version of Winamp.

Is the Minidisc Suite™ better than Sony's SimpleBurner or OpenMG JukeBox ?

The Mironics Minidisc Suite™ is not considered as an alternative to the Sony NetMD software products. It does however perform some of the operations of the Sony products.

In what format are the uploaded tracks stored on the computer ?

The Mironics Minidisc Suite™ currently stores all uploaded tracks as wav files. These can be coverted to any other format using a suitable conversion software. You may edit these tracks using a sound editor software of your choice.
