Nimitthaani cha pashyaami vipareethaani Keshava |
Nacha shreyonupashyaami hathyaa swajanamaahavey ||(1.31)

Meaning 31

I do not see how any good can come from killing my own kinsmen in this battle, nor can I, my dear Krsna, desire any subsequent victory, kingdom, or happiness.

Na kangksho vijayam Krishna na cha raajyam sukhaani cha |
kim no raajyena Govinda kim Bhogairjeevithena vaa || (1.32)

Meaning 32

O Krishna! I neither want to win nor want the kingdom or happiness. What will I do with such a happiness or life.

Sloka 33

Yeshaamarthey Kaangshitham naha raajyam bhogaa sukhaanee cha |
tha emayvashtithaa yudhey praanaasthyakthva dhanaani cha || (1.33)

Meaning 33

O Govinda, of what avail to us are kingdoms, happiness or even life itself when all those for whom we may desire them are now arrayed in this battlefield?

Aachaaryaa pitharaputraahaa sthathaiva cha pithamahaahaa |
maathulaa shwashuraapoutraaha shyaalaa sambhandhinasthathaa || (1.34)

O Madhusudana, when teachers, fathers, sons, grandfathers, maternal uncles, fathers-in-law, grandsons, brothers-in-law and all relatives are ready to give up their lives and properties and are standing before me, then why should I wish to kill them, though I may survive?

Ethaanna hanthumicchaami gnothopi Madhusoodhana |
api trailokyaraajyasya hetho kim nu maheekruthey || (1.35)

O maintainer of all creatures, I am not prepared to fight with them even in exchange for the three worlds, let alone this earth.

Nihathya Dhaartharaashtraanaha ka preethissyajanaardhana |
paapamevaashrayedasmaana hathvaithaanaathathaayinaha || (1.36)

Meaning 36

Sin will overcome us if we slay such aggressors. Therefore it is not proper for us to kill the sons of Dhrtarastra and our friends.

Thasmaan Naarhaa vayam hanthum dhaatharaashtraan swabhaandhavaan |
Swajanam hee katham athvaa sukhinas Syaama Maadhava || (1.37)

What should we gain, O Krishna, husband of the goddess of fortune, and how could we be happy by killing our own kinsmen? "

With the destruction of dynasty, the eternal family tradition is vanquished, and thus the rest of the family becomes involved in irreligious practice.
