Installing layouts

Installing a layout the first time? Need help understanding the procedure? Here is the right tutorial!

Okay, Lets start.

1.You download the file with the layout contents and unzip it using winzip. If you don't have it, you got to download the trial version from its official website.

2. You then open the notepad and open the index in it. OR open the index and go to windows/source. This should get you the html coding. You save it somewhere first etc the microsoft word for easy editing.

3. You gotta get a freeserver such as angelfire.com, geocities, freewebs, 1asphost.com to host your layout images and files.... whatever. upload all the gif/jpg files. They are the images for the layout.

4. Go to the coding, and delete the instructions and replace them with your own words/content.

5. you search around the coding for the image link which ends with .gif or .jpg.

6. Get your image url from your freeserver and replace them.

Etc:

I use angelfire. My act is http://www.img.abc.com/animeskies I upload a image file named tables1main.gif. The url should be http://www.img.abc.com/animeskies/tables1main.gif or something like that. Then read the HTML codes in the folder. Replace the image gifs/jpgs with the correct URL of the images you have uploaded.

And then copy and paste the html coding into your given webpage.

I think this is all... but if you are still unsure you can email me with your specific questions.=)

Sometimes you gotta fiddle with some things to make it suit you better but don't overdo it if you are not sure!

Things not to do.

Don't direct link from someone's server. This way it isn't fair as bandwidth is one of the most valued thing to a webmistress/webmaster. And you face the risk of your graphics/layout disappearing should that person delete the picture you are linking to or was temporaily suspended for excessive bandwidth comsumption.

Don't remove the credits. It is very unfair that someone did all the work and you are claiming credit for something you had not done. If you are founf out, Most likely you are going to be in a sorry state for copyrighting.

Always give ppl the credit that they deserved.

This are the rules for using layouts. Have fun building your own site!^^
